Fine-art posters,
curated in Paris
Fine-art posters from Paris, printed in Europe on 275 g/m² matte paper.
Paris invented the poster as one invents a language: one composition, one palette, a whole period held in a rectangle. Here the railway journey sits beside the great world's fairs, Hokusai's japonisme and the Art Deco of the thirties, every poster chosen for the clarity of its drawing. Printed in Europe on 275 g/m² matte fine-art paper, wood-frame option. Art direction: Cédric des Lauriers.
What holds my attention in a poster is the economy of the gesture: one idea, one axis, one colour that keeps the whole thing together. The great printers of the Belle Époque knew how to compose as others know how to write sentences. Hokusai understood the same thing a century earlier. When I build the Paris Poster catalogue, I look for that same discipline - images that need no explanation. Each one is printed in Europe on 275 g/m² matte fine-art paper, so it lasts as long as the decision to hang it.
